The Central Community College men's basketball team traveled to Wahpeton, ND to compete in the AmericInn Classic and matched up against North Dakota State College of Science (NJCAA DI) on Friday 11/14 and Saturday against Dakota College at Bottineau (NJCAA D2). The Raiders finished the tournament with a 1-1 record, bringing their season total to 4-3.
Game 1: Vs. North Dakota State College of Science
The Raiders kept the game tight in the first half, trailing by only three points, 38-35, going into the locker room. NDSCS demonstrated strong shooting percentages across the board, particularly from the free-throw line, where they converted on 93% of their attempts. NDSCS's offense exploded in the second half, outscoring CCC 54-33 to secure the victory 92-68. Mo Abdalla led the Raiders with 17 points, and Brody Johnson contributed a team-high 9 rebounds.
Game 2: Vs. Dakota College at Bottineau
The Raiders were able to overcome a 16-point first half deficit to find a way to earn a split on their weekend.
CCC trailed the Lumberjacks 40-24 after the first 20 minutes. The group never waivered, they bound together and with a gritty, relentless effort on the defensive end in the second half the Raiders were able to hold DCB to only 14 points in the second half, forcing them to shoot 6-33 (18.2%) from the field & 0-13 (0%) from beyond the arc. The Raider offensive charge was led by Freshman, Nino Nesbitt who scored 19 of his game-high 22 points in the second half.
The men's absketball team moves to 4-3 on the year. CCC is back in action this week with two games, a rematch with #6 Johnson County CC (Overland Park, KS) and a home tilt against another tough opponent in Highland CC (KS). Both teams will enter the week undefeated (JCCC 7-0 and HCC 5-0).
