CCC Closes the Season with Loss at NPCC
Central Community College fell behind 11-2 early to North Platte Community College and never were able to recover as the Lady Knights went on to win the Region IX championship, 78-50.
"The ladies played hard and I was very proud of them," said CCC head coach Mike Kroupa. "We tried slowing the game down, but NPCC took the early lead, so we had to change our game plan."
Two CCC players scored in double figures. Maddy Wolfe scored a team-high 25 points, while Megan Fiala recorded 14 points.
NPCC sported four players in double figures, with Allison Tichy leading the way with 19 points. Thomesha Wilson and Jessica Lovitt each logged double-doubles. Wilson scored 16 point and hauled in a dozen rebounds, while Lovitt tallied a dozen points and pulled down 11 boards.
With the loss, the Raiders finish the 2016-17 campaign with a mark of 14-15.
"We were hitting our stride winning four in a row before last night," said Kroupa. "Unfortunately, things didn't work out the way I wanted it to."
